Sadec Town


Sadec town is situated between the Front branch and the Back branch of Mekong river sections that pass through the south of Vietnam. This is a certain place that tourists can not miss in Mekong Delta.

Sadec Flower Village: For over 100 years, it has been well known as the land of thousands of varieties flowers and strange plants. One of the most typical features of Sadec is local villagers grow flowers all year round on shelves.

Kien An Cung Pagodawas built between 1924 and 1927 by Huynh Cam Thuan, Huynh Thuy Le’s father, and a group of Chinese people from Fujian Province living in Sa Dec Town at that time. Inside the pagoda is an altar to worship Huynh Thuy Le and his wife. In April, 1990, Kien An Cung Pagoda was recognized as a national cultural and historical relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House: This wooden house was built in 1895. In 1917, Huynh Cam Thuan, the father of Huynh Thuy Le, rebuilt the house in the style of a French villa, using both Oriental and Western architectural elements.

This house witnessed the passionate love affair between Marguerite Duras - the well-known French writer who penned the famous novel L'Amant (The Lover) - and Huynh Thuy Le, a son of the Huynh Family. The L’Amant has been listed as one of Vietnam’s most impressive destinations by the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations.
The L'Amant has also been translated into 43 languages and was made into a film of the same name by French director - Jean Jacques Annaud in 1992.
