This full tour package is a great experience and the caves are magnificent. We also have time for the 2 day/1night option on a luxury cruise. But we felt in love the beauty of nature at a lovely local homestay and touring in Ninh Binh. Highly recommend!
The day tour from Hanoi is eleven hours of which only four hours is in Hanlong bay. I wished have longer time on boat.

The only thing is the long trip by car (around four hours), not fault of the tour agency. They suggested us the two day package and three day package or even four day package combined a lot of things. But we have very short time to see around. They have some nice stops on the half way at a local village to visit rice fields and prepare some local snack for us as well. Recommend V-S-E to all visitors!
